Splitting scanned batches
Feeding twenty receipts through a document scanner usually produces one long PDF, not twenty small ones. Splitting one file per page reverses that in a single step, which is why the method exists.
If your scanner put two receipts on each page, split first and crop second — page-level tools can't separate two things that share a page.

Common questions
What's the difference between the two split methods?
One file per page turns a 30-page PDF into 30 files, numbered in order. Ranges give you control: type 1-10, 11-20 and you get two files of ten pages each.
Can I pull out just one section and ignore the rest?
You can, though the extract pages tool is built for exactly that and gives you a single file back rather than a zip.
Why did my split arrive as a zip?
Browsers block pages that try to trigger many downloads at once, so anything over one file is bundled. Unzip it and the individual PDFs are inside.
Do split files keep the original quality?
Yes. Pages are copied, not re-rendered, so text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution.
Can I split a scanned document?
Yes. A scan is just a PDF whose pages are images, and splitting treats it the same way. Note that the text in a scan is not searchable, and these tools do not add a text layer.
