Accessibility
This site aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1, Level AA. This statement sets out the current status, the measures taken, the limitations we are aware of, and how to report a problem.
Standard and current status
The target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1, Level AA. The site is believed to conform, with the exceptions recorded further down. This statement was prepared through a combination of automated checking and manual review, and has not been audited by a third party.
What has been done
Every text and background color pair on the site has been measured against the contrast requirements. Body text, secondary text, small labels, link colors, button text, navigation and footer text all meet or exceed the required ratios, and several colors were changed specifically to reach them. Borders on interactive controls meet the separate three-to-one requirement for non-text contrast.
All functionality is operable by keyboard. The file selection panel is exposed as a button, is reachable by tab, and responds to Enter and Space. Focus is always visible, using a high-contrast outline rather than a faint shadow. A skip link is the first item in the tab order on every page.
The signature tool offers a typed alternative to drawing, because drawing with a pointer cannot be done with a keyboard alone.
Pages use landmark regions and a single main heading, with headings in order. Status messages during processing are announced to screen readers through a live region, so a blind user learns that a file has been processed rather than waiting in silence. Decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
The interface reflows to a single column on narrow screens without horizontal scrolling, and tolerates text being enlarged. Motion is limited to hover and drag feedback, and is suppressed entirely for anyone whose system requests reduced motion.
Known limitations
The signature drawing canvas has no non-visual equivalent. Someone who cannot see the canvas cannot check what was drawn. The typed alternative exists precisely for this, but the drawn version remains visual-only and we do not claim otherwise.
Some tools ask for page ranges as typed text, such as 1-4, 7. This is efficient and works identically with assistive technology, but it requires knowing the page count first. The page counter tool provides that, though it is an extra step that a visual page picker would remove.
PDF files produced by this site inherit the accessibility of whatever went in. Where a tool rebuilds pages as images, such as compression and grayscale conversion, the output has no text layer and is not accessible to a screen reader. This is stated on those pages. Running recognition afterwards restores a text layer.
The site has not been tested with every combination of screen reader and browser.
