Counting before you commit to anything
Page count is the number every other decision hangs on. Whether a bundle will clear an upload cap, what a print shop will quote, whether a document needs splitting at all — all of it starts here, and all of it is guesswork until you know.
It matters most before compression. A file that has to reach a size limit and has forty pages is a different problem from one with four. Knowing the count tells you whether to reach for a quality setting or to remove pages the form never asked for.
Reading the report
The output lists each file with its page count and its weight, then totals both. The weight column is the useful one when you are preparing an upload, because it shows which file in a batch is carrying the excess — usually one scan among nineteen small documents.
If you are about to merge, run the count first. The total tells you what the combined document will be before you build it, and whether page numbers will be worth adding afterwards.

Common questions
Why not just open the file and look?
For one file, do that. This exists for the case where you have thirty files and need a total — for a print quote, a court bundle, or a billing line.
Does it count pages in scanned PDFs?
Yes. Page count doesn't depend on whether pages contain text or images.
Can it count sheets of paper for double-sided printing?
It reports pages. Sheets is pages divided by two, rounded up per document — worth doing per file rather than on the grand total.
Are my files uploaded to count them?
No. Each file is opened in your browser, read, and released.
What if one file in the batch is corrupt?
The run stops and names the file so you can pull it out and try again.
