What browser-side actually means

Every tool on this site works the same way: your file is opened by code running in this tab and processed in your device’s memory. Nothing is transmitted, nothing is retained, and shutting the tab disposes of it. That matters most for the documents people are least comfortable uploading — contracts, medical records, identity documents, anything under an NDA.

That constraint decides what is here. Operations needing a processing engine on a server — conversion to Word or Excel, character recognition for scans, applying or removing encryption — are not offered at all, because building them would mean receiving your documents.

No account, no watermark, no upsell

Nothing here asks you to register, and nothing stamps a logo across your output. A tool that watermarks your document to advertise itself has made your file worse in exchange for its own marketing, which is a strange thing to call free.
